Danielle Smith
National Council Member - Army

She served in the United States Army from 1994 to 2011, earning her VFW eligibility serving in Korea, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq. Her decorations include the Korean

Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Bosnia, Kosovo Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

Danielle joined the VFW in 1996 at Post 9439 in Casper, where she maintains his Gold Legacy Life membership. She has served in elected and appointed positions at the Post, District and Department levels, culminating with her election as the Department of Wyoming Commander from 2022 to 2023, in which she received the distinction as a Triple Crown All-American Department Commander. On the national level, she has served on the Finance and Internal Organization Committee, Internal Resolutions Committee, National Bylaws, Manual of Procedure and Ritual Committee, and the Programs Committee.

She received her associate degree in government and history, a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in social work, and a certificate in addictionology and trauma therapy for Native Americans.
